No Show Policy
No-Show Policy for Eastern Shore Rural Health System, Inc.
Your providers want to ensure you and other area residents can access high-quality care when needed. To ensure maximum access to medical and dental services for all of our patients, please be aware of the following appointment policy:
Scheduled Appointments: Although we will make every effort to remind you of your upcoming appointment by phone, text, email, or mail, you are ultimately responsible for remembering your appointment date and time.
Confirming Dental Appointments: We will call you at the number(s) you have provided us at least two days before your scheduled appointment to confirm that you still plan to keep the appointment. If we cannot reach you because none of the telephone numbers you gave us are working, we will remove your dental appointment from the schedule since we could not confirm the appointment. If we reach your voice mail, we will leave a message requiring you to call us back no later than noon the day before your appointment to confirm your intention to keep the appointment. If you fail to call us back, we assume you are not keeping the appointment and will remove it from the schedule.
Canceling Appointments: If you cannot make your appointment, you must call us at least 24 hours in advance so we can offer it to another patient. Failure to provide at least 24 hours’ notice counts as a missed appointment and will be counted as a no-show.
Late Appointments: If you show up more than 10 minutes late for your scheduled appointment, we will remove it from the schedule. This will be counted as a missed appointment, and it will also be counted as a no-show.
Missed Appointments: Because of the critical lack of access to medical, behavioral health and dental services in our area, missed appointments are taken very seriously. If you miss a 3rd medical/behavioral health appointment without proper notice within the same year, you will be placed on “no-show status” and unable to schedule future appointments for one year. If you are an established dental patient and miss a second dental visit or a waivered dental patient and miss one dental appointment, you will be unable to schedule future appointments for one year. All previously scheduled future appointments will be canceled. If you wish to receive further medical or dental care in our centers, you will be required to come to the center and wait for an available appointment or go to Express Care to be seen for an acute issue. Once you are placed on “no-show status” and decide to come to the center and wait to be seen, we will make every effort to see you. However, there is no guarantee that a provider will be able to see you.
Please contact the Center Manager, Dental Operations Manager, or designee if you have questions about our No-Show Policy.
